A Liturgy on Advent
(Leader) Father, as we begin this Advent season, we remember that Advent means “arrival” and reminds us of the past anticipation of Your first coming and the hope of Your promised return. In Your Word, Titus 2:13 prompts us to continue “…waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…”
(Congregation) Father, we come with open hearts, ready to receive Your gift of hope.
In a world often shadowed by darkness, we find hope in the light of Christ. We celebrate His birth and His promise to return, as our unwavering hope rests in Him.
We come with open hearts, ready to receive Your gift of hope.
We are reminded that as we wait for Your second Advent, we can already experience Your presence in our lives through the hope, peace, joy, and love that are available because of Your first Advent.
We come with open hearts, ready to receive Your gift of hope.
Grant us joy even as we wait and help us to love as You have loved us. May we celebrate the gift of Jesus’s birth, holding fast to the promise of His return.
We prepare our hearts to receive You, Lord, in hope, peace, joy, and love.
May we hold onto the hope that never fades, receive Your peace that calms our souls, rejoice in Your presence, and live out Your love each day.
We wait with patient hearts, filled with expectation and faith.
We prepare our hearts to receive You, Lord, in hope, peace, joy, and love.
We remember the words of the prophet Isaiah, “Unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
We prepare our hearts to receive You, Lord, in hope, peace, joy, and love.
Father, we joyfully celebrate your first Advent by receiving Your gift of salvation and the indwelling Holy Spirit, and we anticipate your second Advent when all saints will join with the angels in eternal praise around Your throne and will proclaim triumphantly:
“Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!” (Revelation 7:12)
