1 JOHN 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
—1 JOHN 2:15-17
DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD
THE WORLD:
● The world is passing away (1 John 2:17)
● The world is ignorant of God (1 John 3:1)
● The world hates believers (1 John 3:13)
● Abode of false prophets (1 John 4:1)
● Abode of the antichrist (1 John 4:3)
● Abode of unbelievers (1 John 4:5)
● By faith, the Christian can overcome the world (1 John 5:4-5)
You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
—JAMES 4:4
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.”
—MATTHEW 6:24
YOU CANNOT LOVE THE WORLD AND GOD AT THE SAME TIME
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
—GENESIS 3:6
ONLY GOD IS PERMANENT
