1 Timothy 3:14-16

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

Why I need a Church Family

1. I was created for God’s family

1 Timothy 3:15

…you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God…

John 3:3

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 1:12

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…

2. I was redeemed for God’s presence

1 Timothy 3:15

…you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God…

2 Corinthians 6:16

…For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

3. I am called to proclaim God’s truth

1 Timothy 3:13

…a pillar and buttress of the truth.
