Discussion Questions
- In Esther 2:1, the phrase “after these things” denotes a passage of time about 3 years since the banquets of chapter one. Why is this amount of time significant? How does this affirm the perfect timing of God’s providence?
2. What does it mean to note, “the Book of Esther is miraculous because it’s meticulous.” Use the context of an Empire wide beauty pageant to talk about why these details are meticulous. (Hint: there were about 25 million women in the Persian Kingdom)
3. Like Daniel before him in Babylon, how does Mordecai’s life prove that God never leaves Himself without a witness?
4. How is God’s favor different from “good fortune?” Look at Esther 2:9, 15, 17, and discuss how the Lord grants us favor before man to accomplish His purpose.
5. At the end of chapter two, Mordecai discovers a plot to assassinate the King. How does this meticulous detail parallel what happens with Paul in Acts 23:16. How has man’s plots fallen perfectly into God’s plans in your life?
