The Christian Advantage

An Exile’s Mission

1.) The Jews of the Diaspora were to live in, and seek the

of nations of their exile.

2.) As present exiles, Christians are called to positively

their earthly nations.

3.) But Christians are to not to

to the ungodly aspects of their cultures.

Seeking Advantages

1.) Christians are to focus their attention on seeking the

of godly living.

2.) Seeking godly advantages will often put us at

with our culture.

3.) Any earthly advantages we seek should be

upon, and to the reality of being a child of God.

4.) Being a Christian exile is neither full

from society, nor full into it.

Serving Not Themselves

1.) The prophets were not entirely clear on how God would accomplish

.

2.) The prophets’ unified message was that a suffering would

glory.

3.) Seeking only worldly privileges will cause us to

what God is doing.

A Privileged People

1.) God instructed His prophets to write for our

.

2.) The Old Testament prophets help us to see the

of what Christ did.

3.) In Christ, God has solved the great dilemma of how He can be both

, and of the wicked.

In Cosmic Awe

1.) Seek

like the prophets.

2.) Share the

message.

3.) Find joy in the privilege of God’s

plan.
