Inside Man
Resurrection Road

1 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,
2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money. 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present. —Luke 22:1-3It’s hard to appreciate just how great a break this offer is for the Jewish leaders. Now they can figure out Jesus’s private whereabouts, and they have in-house testimony against him. Anyone who challenges their efforts at restraint will have to face the reaction of Judas, an insider, who knows how Jesus works. No wonder they are so open to Judas and pleased about the situation. —Darrel Bock
47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” —Luke 22:47-48
1.) DISILLUSIONMENT
Disillusionment is a feeling of disappointment that occurs when expectations don’t match reality.
24 Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. —Matthew 16:24
22 The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men. 23 They will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised to life. —Matthew 17:22-23
Jesus wasn’t who Judas thought he was, and he certainly wasn’t who he wanted him to be.
2.) DOLLARS
9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. —1 Timothy 6:9-10
4 But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said, 5 “That perfume was worth a year’s wages.[a] It should have been sold and the money given to the poor.” 6 Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples’ money, he often stole some for himself. —John 12:4-6
Satan works on the assumption that every person has a price. Often, unfortunately, he is right. Many people are willing to surrender themselves and their principles to whatever god will bring them the greatest short-term profit. —Randy Alcorn
3.) DECEIT
21 “But here at this table, sitting among us as a friend, is the man who will betray me… 23The disciples began to ask each other which of them would ever do such a thing. —Luke 22:21, 23
What do you expect?
Are you leaving the door open?
Is there any deceit in you?
What should have Judas done?
