27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” —Genesis 1:27-28a (NIV)
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. —Genesis 2:24 (NIV)
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. —Psalm 133 (NIV)
You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. —1 Peter 3:7 (NASB)
“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” —Matthew 19:6 (NIV)
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. —James 3:16 (KJV)
HELP ME THINK DIFFERENTLY:
1. Start with what God wants to do in YOU.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. —Ephesians 5:25 (NIV)
1…if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. —1 Peter 3:1b-2 (NIV)
2. Realize no person can fulfill all of your needs.
3. Don’t try to change your spouse.
4. Forgive quickly and restore trust.
5. Evaluate your level of disunity and be willing to get help.
6. Take steps toward unity.
