Discussion Questions
What will God say to you in HEAVEN?
What do you want to hear from God when you are standing before Him in heaven? Will God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant?”
What will last forever from your LIFE WORK?
Meditate upon your final judgment (1 Cor 3:10-15; 2 Cor 5:9-10; Mt 16:27; 1 Pt 1:17). Take an assessment of your life and ask yourself if the fruit you are bearing right now will be eternal? Does this fruit look good now on this earth, but it will all burn up and be worthless when you die? Do you need to make any changes in your focus so that you can start to bear fruit that will please God and come out like gold?
Do you have JOY in your life?
Why does God tell you: “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh 8:10)? Wouldn’t you expect God to use another word than “joy” when describing what makes us strong? Talk about why God said that having a joy in the Lord gives us strength. If joy is “contentment” and “inner peace,” then how does this bring power into our life?
Do you display the fruits of the HOLY SPIRIT?
Study these 9 virtues and ask yourself which you are lacking: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control (Gal 5:22-23). Instead of feeling like you need to “work harder” at getting better at a couple of these virtues, focus your attention on “knowing Christ” and asking Him to clothe you in His virtues. Could it be that we fail in growing in these fruits of the Spirit because you try to increase them in our lives in the wrong way?
Do you make God FAMOUS?
Do you live to bring God glory (Mt 5:14-16; 1 Cor 6:19-20; 10:31; Col 3:23-24; Rom 11:36; Rev 4:11; 2 Cor 3:18; Gal 1:10; Eph 3:20-21; John 15:8; Ps 9:1; 86:10-12)? How do you take the “spotlight” off of yourself and instead place it upon God? Do you need to get rid of any pride that secretly longs for attention and praise? What can you do this week to point people to God?
