What was high school like for you? Do you have good memories, bad memories, mixed bag? (Extra points if you can send your group a Senior pic!)
Read 1 Corinthians 14:26-40. What sticks out to you? What troubles you? What questions remain?
What has church attendance been like for you over the course of your life? Use the “3 Undercurrents” to evaluate and reflect.
Do you feel in the American Church, the “medium has become the message”? Do you personally think things like the mega-church movement has drawn people to Christ or distracted from Him? What are opposing views?
Discuss the idea of liturgy in the church. What insights do you have about it? How can it have a shaping effect on a local body?
Read verses 33-38 again. Discuss the differing views on the role of women in the church today, and what you personally believe.
- Read 1 Timothy 3:1-13. Why are these verses important for the structure of the Church? How should churches be raising up elders and other leaders?
- When we gather, what do we receive?
- Talk about what each person’s spiritual gift is. If not known, encourage one another in how to serve and discern what it might be.
