What was something you desperately wanted as a child? Did your parents give it to you?

Were you challenged by the sermon to start (or resume) praying for something? What is it?

Our beliefs about unanswered prayer can be a serious stumbling block to our faith.
Read the following passages one at a time, discussing what each tells us about the reasons our prayers may not be answered the way we would like. (You may not have time to go through them all. Do as many as you have time for, allowing time for the next question and prayer.)
James 1:5-8
John 15:7
Mark 11:24-25
1 John 3:22
1 John 5:14

Jesus prayed to God the night before his crucifixion. Matthew 26 says:
“He fell on his face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
What does this tell us about how we should pray?

Jesus prayed these words thousands of years ago. How does the answer to this prayer affect us today?

What does the outcome teach us about why our prayers may not be answered in the way we want?

Pray
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them”. Matthew 18:19-20

Pray together as a group, knowing that God, the Father who loves you, will hear and answer your prayers.
