By The Spirit … Happy Easter

Today, we’re talking about Easter through four lenses…

1. What happened… Easter as a historical event

2. What could it possibly mean…

3. What do I think…

I’m going to summarize the message of Christmas and Easter in two verses…

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. —NIV John 3:16–17

Three things this love of God does…

Reaches us

Restores us

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles. —NIV 1 Timothy 2:5–7

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. —NIV 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. —NIV 1 Peter 1:18–19

Redeems us

They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.” Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” —NLT Matthew 9:28–29

4. What do I do… how do I respond?
