“We Are a Spirit-Filled Family”

Sunday, June 8, 2025

Romans 12:10-11 (NIV)
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. …Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

zeo – heated to the point of boiling over.

“keep on the fire… keep boiling over… in the Spirit”

John 14:16-17 (NIV)
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

All the presence… all the anointing… all the power… all the truth… everything that Jesus was to the disciples… the Spirit was going to be the same for them… and for all disciples to come!

“Salvation is about getting to heaven!” – WRONG!
“Salvation is about God’s indwelling presence… the Spirit of Truth in us. His presence is the reward, whether here on earth for a lifetime, or in heaven for eternity.”

“Too many are content to follow rather than travel with His presence.”

How do I live a life FULL of the Holy Spirit?

In Salvation, the Spirit Indwells Me

John 20:21-23 (NIV)
Again, Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them as said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

In Baptism, the Spirit Empowers Me

Acts 1:8 (NIV)
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

By Yielding, the Spirit Changes Me

Galatians 5:16-26 (NIV)
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

In Manifestations, the Spirit Encourages Us

I Corinthians 12:7-11 (NIV)
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
