Prayer Challenge: Would you pray this prayer every day?
God, our heavenly Father, thank you for being with us today.
We know that you may need to do something in us before you do something through us. We give you our hearts today.
Help us to see people as Jesus saw people.
We want to stop assuming that the people in our day are there by random accident.
Put me in close proximity to one person who needs you today. Place people in my heart.
May your Holy Spirit grant us wisdom, compassion, courage, and discernment.
Help us to be like you, changing the world, one at a time.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

DISCUSSION/REFLECTION:
Dave started with the example of a well-known person’s catch phrase. How many other well-known phrases from individuals or commercials can you identify?
Have you ever been in a situation like the woman in Mark 14 where your motives were questioned? How would have someone coming to your defense the way Jesus did have helped you through that situation?
What part of the woman’s behavior did Jesus have in mind as being included in the telling of the Gospel?
What did the type of objections raised in the story tell you about those who raised them?
Which of the three words Dave highlighted; Affirmation, Affection, and Hope, is the most difficult for you to express to another person?
In addition to the key text, which of the six additional texts was the most challenging/comforting to you?
