The Greatest Commandment Part 1

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. —Matthew 22:34

Grace Chapels Mission Statement: Love God, Love People, Make Disciples.

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” —Matthew 22:34-38

How can we love other people else as much as we love ourselves?

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. —Matthew 7:12

8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. —Romans 13:8–10

All of Scripture, all of God’s plans,

on these two of life: that we fully and that fully .

Life Application

This week honestly evaluate your life. If you were to sit down with Pastor Adam and explain how you love God fully, what would you say? Do you honestly love God more than ANYTHING else in your life?

Imagine you, Pastor Adam and the person who causes you the MOST strife in life get to sit down and talk about how loved they feel by you. What would they say? Would they even know you’re trying to live our Jesus’ commands? Would they laugh at the idea that you are trying to love them as much as you love yourself?

Be honest and realign your life where needed.
