I Am With You Always: Jesus is Crucified

As you gather around the table as family or friends, discuss the following questions related to today’s message.
During the message we watched Pilate attempt to “wash his hands” of any guilt or responsibility of Jesus’ death. How can we do this, at times, with our own sin? Talk about “small sins” in your life and how you might not take those seriously. Have you ever tried to excuse yourself by blaming others for putting you in a situation leading to sin? Talk about how you might choose, instead, to own your sin, confess it before God, and choose walk away from it.
The humiliation Jesus endured reminds us that we can endure anything that comes our way through God’s strength. Jesus suffered much for us, ensuring his limitless and endless love toward us. How does this truth change how you look at difficulty you are walking through now? Are you regularly embracing God’s call to die to yourself and live to Him? What steps can you take to die to yourself more in the next week?
When we zoom in on what took place at the cross, it is a helpful reminder of Jesus’ great love for us demonstrated through His suffering. But we also need to remember the greater story of redemption that was playing out through the cross. Cruelty was on display that day, but so was God’s unfathomable grace! If you’ve trusted Jesus as Savior, take time to thank God for the unmerited grace you’ve received through Jesus Christ. Thank him for his willingness to die, so that you might live. Thank Jesus for paying for your sin and dying in your place.
