The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. —Jesus
What does Jesus think about the Sabbath?
1. Jesus engaged with the Sabbath.
When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. —Luke 4:16
What does Jesus think about the Sabbath?
1. Jesus engaged with the Sabbath.
2. Jesus expected the Sabbath to continue.
And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath. —Matthew 24:20
If practicing the Sabbath had been abolished, it would have been no grief to have fled on this day, any more than on any other day of the week; but in that Christ urged his followers to pray to God to prevent it - he plainly demonstrates that the observation of the Sabbath is no abrogated ceremony, but an expectation, confirmed and established by Christ among Christians. —Lewis Bayly Commentary
