Taking it Further to Help You THRIVE…

  1. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

2. Someone says to you, “It’s no big deal if I sin because God gives grace and will forgive me anyway.” (Have you ever thought this way? Do you think this way now? Why / why not?) How would you respond to someone who says this to you?

3. Paul talks a great deal about the old man and the new man. What do these mean? How are they similar? How are they different?

4. Ephesians 2:1 says we were once “dead in our sins”, and Romans 6:2 says we have “died to sin”. What does each of these mean, and how is it possible to get from being an Ephesians 2 person to a Romans 6 person?

5. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “You are not your own…” We don’t ‘belong’ to ourselves - we belong to God. How does (should) this truth play out in our lives? In what ways do we sometimes live contrary to this truth? What kinds of trouble do we get into when we live for ourselves? (If you’re able, share a time when living for yourself led to trouble in your life.)

6. What are some practical ways we can (verse 13) present our “members to God as instruments of righteousness”?
