- Jesus replied to the man that speaks to Him at the table with a parable. (v.16) Why do you think Jesus spoke and taught in parables so much?
- The excuses that the invited guest give (v.18-20) are a tie back to an Old Testament instruction. (cf. Deuteronomy 20:5-7) Why do you think it would be impactful for Jesus to reference the Old Testament?
- With the excuses provided from the parable, what kind of excuses do you think we give in present day that parallels them?
- What is the significance that the host of the banquet turned his invitations to those on the street and the poor?
- Why do you think the host wanted his servant to invite those even further from him in order to fill his house? (v.23)
- How does this parable of the banquet teach us about the Kingdom of God?
- What “excuse” do you provide to keep you from Jesus’ invitation to live the life He has for you?
