Built Differently

Week one - Built Different(ly)
Romans 12:1-2

Bottom line: We are built differently as followers of Jesus, but we have to do things differently if we want to live differently.

Built Different” - a shortened way of saying someone or something is built differently, but with a distinctly positive connotation

If we’re going to

differently we’ve got to differently.

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. —Romans 12:1-2

Transformation starts with your

and moves to your whole .

Conform is when we’re trying to fit a mold that isn’t natural or intended
Transform is when we embrace newness and a deep-rooted change

If you want to live like no one else, you’ve got to live like no one else. —Dave Ramsey

What are you ready to do differently to live differently?

  • Are you tired of being financially stressed? What are you willing to give up to create more margin?
  • Are you tired of being “busy” all the time with events and activities and commitments? What are you willing to stop doing so you can start doing the things that will bring you some real and actual peace?
  • Are you tired of giving so much of your headspace and energy to being frustrated and angry? What platforms running on angry algorithms are you willing to stop giving your time and attention?

Legos - there’s a master builder who can see the bigger landscape.
When we begin to see ourselves as part of the bigger landscape of God’s kingdom, it repurposes our role and begins to determine how we structure the pieces of our lives.

Foundational piece - Jesus is enough

Do whatever you have to do to make the time and attention you give to Jesus this year non-negotiable.
You can miss practice, you can miss work, you can miss school, you can miss a post, you can miss a workout, you can miss a meal.
Don’t miss Jesus.
