How God Lifts Us Up When We Are Worn Down

I. God Brings the Right Around Us at the Right Time

(Acts 18:3-4; Romans 16:3-4)

Acts 18:1-2 “After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them …”

II. God Encourages Us When We Are


Acts 18:5a “When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia …”

   A. Remember What God is Doing

1 Thessalonians 3:6-7 “But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, as we long to see you— for this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith.”

   B. Know That God Will Meet Your


(Philippians 4:14-16)

2 Corinthians 11:9a “And when I was with you and was in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need …”

   C. Hear God’s Reminder That We Are Not
(Acts 18:7-8; Acts 18:9-1)

Acts 18:5b-6 “Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus. And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, ‘Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.’”

III. God Will Open in Unexpected Ways


   A. Through


(Acts 18:14-15)

Acts 18:12-13 “But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him before the tribunal, saying, ‘This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to the law.’”

   B. Through Setbacks and

Acts 18:16-17 “And he drove them from the tribunal. And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.”

1 Corinthians 1:1 “Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes”

   C. Through Your Commitment to Him

Acts 18:18 “After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow.”
