Sermon: Here is Our King
Scripture: Psalm 47
Summary: There is no leadership vacuum in the world. There is a King and his name is Jesus. He is a good King, and he is in a class of his own. See him clearly and it will do something to you. Listen in as Peter unpacks this Psalm as a context setter for 2025.
For Reflection and Discussion
Read Scripture: Psalm 47
- How much do you think about God’s kingship?
- When you think about God being king, what kinds of things come to mind? What kind of king is he?
- Read v1,5,6-7. How expressive is your enjoyment of him? Does the clarity with which you see him have any influence on it? What can you do to see him more clearly?
- When has your desire to be king interfered with your enjoyment of God’s kingship?
- Read v9 and John 12:32. The exaltation of the king on a cross is jarring. Reflect on it together for a few moments. Maybe sing a song or pray in response.
- As you consider the coming year, whose kingdom are you mainly thinking about?
