Build Community Title 1.jpg
Devotional Guide for August 5-10, 2024

Message Recap:

We’re exploring the dynamic message of building community and spreading the Gospel beyond our comfort zones. The central theme revolves around John 15:16, reminding us that we’re appointed to bear lasting fruit. This scripture challenges us to step out in faith, trusting that God will provide when we align with His purpose. We see inspiring examples of how this plays out in missionary work, from university ministries to church planting. The story encourages us to consider how we can use our unique talents and circumstances to reach the ‘unengaged’ in our own communities. Whether it’s through sports, music, or simply opening our homes, we’re called to break down barriers and share the hope of Christ in creative ways.

Devotional Guide:

Day 1: Breaking Barriers to Share Christ’s Love - Acts 10:9-23

Peter’s vision and subsequent visit to Cornelius’ house illustrate God’s desire for us to break down barriers in sharing His love. Just as the missionaries found creative ways to “get beyond the gates” in the Dominican Republic, we are called to overcome cultural, social, or personal barriers that prevent us from sharing Christ’s love.

What “gates” exist in your community that hinder the spread of the Gospel? Ask God for wisdom and courage to find innovative ways to reach those who seem unreachable with His message of hope and salvation.

Day 2: Faith That Moves Mountains - Matthew 17:14-20

Jesus teaches us that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. In our lives, we often face challenges that seem insurmountable. Reflect on areas where your faith may be wavering.

Ask God to strengthen your faith and help you trust in His power to overcome obstacles. Consider how you can step out in faith today, whether in sharing the gospel, serving others, or trusting God in a difficult situation.

Day 3: The Gift of Salvation Reading - 2:1-10

Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn through our own efforts. Meditate on the incredible grace that God has shown you through Christ. How does this truth impact your daily life and your interactions with others?

Pray for opportunities to share this message of hope with someone who may be struggling to understand God’s love and forgiveness.

Day 4: Hope in Times of Uncertainty - Romans 15:13

In a world filled with uncertainty, our hope in Christ remains steadfast. Reflect on how God’s hope has sustained you through difficult times.

How can you be a beacon of hope to others in your community? Ask God to fill you with His joy and peace, so that you may overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Day 5: Bearing Fruit That Lasts - John 15:1-17

Jesus’ words about bearing fruit that lasts remind us of the eternal impact of our faith-filled actions. This passage challenges us to remain connected to Christ, the true vine, as the source of our fruitfulness.

Reflect on the areas of your life where you’re seeing spiritual fruit and areas where growth seems slow. How can you deepen your connection with Christ to bear more lasting fruit? Consider how your actions, words, and relationships can have an eternal impact on those around you.
