MY NOTES

The womb is a sacred place where God is at work:

  • ‭Psalms‬ ‭139:13‬ ‭NIV‬
[13] For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

  • ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NLT‬
[5] “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Jesus’ mom was instrumental in His first miracle:

  • ‭John‬ ‭2:1‭-‬11‬ ‭ESV‬
[1] On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. [2] Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. [3] When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” [4] And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” [5] His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” [6] Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. [7] Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. [8] And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. [9] When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom [10] and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” [11] This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

Moms are vitally important to God’s plans.

1) Jesus honored His mom, even when it didn’t line up with His preference or plan.

  • ‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:1‭-‬3‬ ‭NIV‬
[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. [2] “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— [3] “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

  • ‭Proverbs‬ ‭1:8‭-‬9‬ ‭NLT‬
[8] My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. [9] What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.

MY NOTES

  • ‭Luke‬ ‭2:43‭-‬52‬ ‭NLT‬
[43] After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first, [44] because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends. [45] When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. [46] Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. [47] All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. [48] His parents didn’t know what to think. “Son,” his mother said to him, “why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.” [49] “But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?” [50] But they didn’t understand what he meant. [51] Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. And his mother stored all these things in her heart. [52] Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.

Even if you had imperfect parents – we can still find a way to honor them. Jesus was blameless, sinless – still modeled what it looked like to honor and obey His parents.

2) This miracle involved wine – this miracle involved Jesus creating something that normally takes months or years.

One Word from God. One moment with God. One touch from God can shift things, transform things, heal things, and forgive things beyond what any process of the world could ever do.

3) From Judgment to Joy. From Religion to Relationship.

  • ‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NIV‬
[2] fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

“DRAW SOME OUT”

4) Being a mom is a commitment to constantly drawing from and pouring out from your resources for the good of others around you.

  • ‭2 Samuel‬ ‭17:1‭-‬2‬ ‭ESV‬
[1] Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight. [2] I will come upon him while he is weary and discouraged and throw him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. I will strike down only the king,

MY NOTES

A. “Set out tonight in pursuit of David.”

  • ‭Romans‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭NIV‬
[1] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

  • ‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‭-‬10‬ ‭NIV‬
[9] But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. [10] That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

B. “Then the people with him will flee.” Isolate and disconnect you from God’s people.

  • ‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23‭-‬25‬ ‭NLT‬
[23] Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. [24] Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. [25] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

MY NOTES

  • ‭Psalms‬ ‭68:6‬ ‭NLT‬
[6] God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

C. “I would choose 12,000 men” The enemy will try to intimidate and overwhelm you; to cause you to think it’s too big, too lost, or too late.

  • ‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭AMP‬
[7] casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

5) “Fill them to the brim.” Today, God wants to fill you and refresh you.

  • ‭John‬ ‭4:13‭-‬14‬ ‭NIV‬
[13] Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, [14] but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

MY NOTES

Take a Nap and Eat a Snack.

  • ‭I Kings‬ ‭19:4‭-‬12‬ ‭NKJV‬
[4] But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” [5] Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” [6] Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. [7] And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” [8] So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. [9] And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” [10] So he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.” [11] Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; [12] and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

  • ‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭NLT‬
[10] In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

  • ‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:20‭-‬21‬ ‭NLT‬
[20] Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood— [21] may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

  • ‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‭-‬30‬ ‭MSG‬
[28-30] “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
