Ezekiel 45:1-25

45:1-5 | There is no measurement term given in the Hebrew text. The measurement should be given in rods as described in 42:15-20. The Levites will inhabit a large portion of this territory as their inheritance, although it will not be considered theirs but the Lord’s.

45:8-12 | Leaders in ancient Israel, including those in Ezekiel’s day, had too often oppressed and taken advantage of the people rather than serving them and encouraging them to live righteously. Therefore, God exhorts the leaders of the millennial kingdom to be the sort of godly men God had always sought to lead His people. Because godliness is not merely a matter of religion, but extends to the practical matters of life, very practical measures and directives are given.

45:21-22 | Ezekiel mentions only two of the OT feasts in his vision of millennial worship: Passover (Ex. 12:1-14; Deut. 16:1) and the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:33-43; Num. 29:12-38). The Day of Atonement is not listed as a feast to be celebrated during the Millennium because Jesus Christ already has made atonement for our sins through His once-for-all sacrifice on the cross.
