More Than Ever, part 1: Let’s Go Fast

Hebrews 12:1-3

There’s a direct connection between going fast and going slow. They are not simply opposites.
*Going slow is actually what allows us to go fast.

One of the most consistent metaphors of the Christian life is that of a

.
When God is preparing to speed you up, He starts by you down.

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. —Hebrews 12:1-3

We run faster when people are watching us and cheering us on.
The witnesses also remind us - Don’t waste your life. It goes too quickly, don’t miss it.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. —James 4:8
Blessed are those who are hungry, for they will be filled. —Luke 6:21

*if you want to be filled with more of Jesus, then first you need to be a little hungry
(Jesus assumes we’re going to fast - he says “when you fast…” Matthew 6:16)

Two reasons to get in a race:
1. To

than you did the last time
2. To someone else run a good race

As a church, I believe it’s time for us to fast:
1. God is ready for us to go faster.
2. God is asking us to help someone else run a good race.

We have a plan to build a space for worship and for kids and for students and for our food truck. We have a plan for about 25-30k square feet that will cost around $5-7million.

Here’s how we do it TOGETHER:

But before we do any of that, we’re going to

Bottom line - Are we going to do something with the race we’re running, or simply live our lives waiting for the finish line? Are we going to slow down and fix our eyes on Jesus, or are we going to just keep fumbling our way through?

Let’s go fast!
