
Here are two dangers to avoid when reading the commands of Scripture. First, beware assuming it affirms the opinion you already hold. Second, beware assuming it doesn’t apply in your situation. For instance, when it comes to this command not to worry, a carefree person might merely feel confirmation while a planner might assume that their anxious activity isn’t the kind of worrying Jesus is talking about. A better response? All of us should ask the Lord to convict, encourage, and direct us, heart and life, by his word.
