You were meant to do more than just survive. You were meant to thrive.

What does it mean to thrive?

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green. —Psalm 92:12–14 (NIV)

4 observations from this passage.

The Righteous will Thrive.

Who are “the righteous”?

Thriving depends on where you are planted.

What does it mean to be “planted in the house of the Lord”?

Thriving happens when we are planted in the presence of God, in a community of believers.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. —Psalm 1:1–3 (NIV)

What do you notice about thriving in this passage?

Those who thrive bless others.

How do people who thrive bless others like the palm trees and the cedars of Lebanon?

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. —Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

How do our “good works” bless others?

Thriving doesn’t have an age limit.

How can people still “bear fruit” in old age?
How will you strive to thrive in the Lord this week?
