The Beginning
MORE – Week 1
Psalm 42:1-11
John 10:10 (ESV)
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Psalm 42:1 (ESV)
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
How can we experience that thirst-quenching, soul satisfying presence of God in our lives, not just for the good days but each and every day of our lives.
WE FACE PRESENT
Psalm 42:2-3 (ESV)
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
3My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
Psalm 42:4-5 (ESV)
These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival.
5Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation 6and my God.
Psalm 42:6 (ESV)
My soul is cast down within me;
therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
Psalm 42:7-9 (ESV)
7Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.
8By day the LORD commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
9I say to God, my rock:
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?”
It is in these moments of transparency with God that your journey to MORE starts as you CONTINUALLY acknowledge your need for Him.
Psalm 42:4-5 (ESV)
4These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival.
5Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation
He reminds us of the past so that our faith will be ignited to press on for the future!
Psalm 42:10 (ESV)
10As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
1 Samuel 30:6 (NLT)
6David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
Psalm 42:5 (ESV)
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation
Psalm 42:8 (ESV)
8By day the LORD commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
Psalm 103:1-5 (ESV)
1Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 42:11 (ESV)
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
