Church Wide Prayer Request: Pray for MVC in the coming weeks as we study the personal repercussions of the resurrection when it comes to the practical things we are called to stop doing and the things we are called to start doing. Pray for hearts to be open and lives to be changed.
This Week’s Passage: Colossians 3:1-4
Get This: The resurrection of Jesus opens the eyes of His children to actual reality, and this is transformative to how we live in this life and in the life to come!
Discussion Questions
As we think about how the reality of Jesus’ presence and the wisdom of His example can shape our lives, think about the categories discussed in the sermon– Suffering, Calling, and Longings.
It is easy to envision the earthly things because we see, feel, and experience them daily. When you close your eyes and try to envision the “things that are above” as Paul states it, what do you see? Can the practice of envisioning these heavenly things bring more clarity to the true reality of Jesus’s resurrection?
Colossians 3:3…”For you have died”…When you accept Christ as your Savior your identity as you have always known it is changed. You are now with Christ and He with you. Mindblowing! When/if you feel lost in this world how do you “reconnect” with Christ and not mistake Him for the gardener?
Personal Reflection Questions
What temporal things do you need to put in their proper place of priority or maybe even release completely?
How will you intentionally set your gaze on eternal things?
