
James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Double-Mindedness In Prayer:
Hebrews 11:6 - …without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
v.6…For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
v.7… For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
Asking In Faith:
Matthew 7:9-11
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
- Asking in faith means asking with confidence in these 3 expectations:
1) He hears you. (1 Jn 5:14)
2) He is going to answer. (1 Jn 5:15)
3) His answer will be in line with His character as a good father, even if it’s not what we wanted. (Matt. 7:11)
