Derailed Definition:
• obstruct (a process) by diverting it from its intended course.
We discussed WHY we get derailed.
1. Is this a result of my own bad choice or mistake?
2. Is this an Attack of the Enemy?
3. Is this a Test?
We started talking about HOW we get back on the track after being derailed.
1. Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you.
2. Get rid of sin in your life. Humble yourself to really see the consequence of it.
3. Stop Doubting God
Today we talk Getting on Track AND preventing Future Derailments
Many times a derailment comes from other people.
A wounded person can find offense in pretty much anything someone does, and acts accordingly. A healed person understands that the actions of others has absolutely nothing to do with them.
Boundaries - a defining line that limits, prevents or restrains
Bible talks about boundaries
Proverbs 25:17 TPT
Don’t wear out your welcome by staying too long at the home of your friends, or they may get fed up with always having you there and wish you hadn’t come.
You can’t control other people, but you CAN control how YOU respond to any situation.
2 Corinthians 6:17 TPT
For this reason, “Come out from among them and be separate,” says the Lord.
Your boundaries might cost you some relationships. But your boundaries will also strengthen the right relationships.
Two types of Boundaries:
- Corrective Boundaries
- Protective Boundaries
1. Corrective Boundaries:
Corrective Boundaries are to bring order into a chaotic situation. To stop further damage by stopping a destructive pattern, in order to start the healing process.
What choice will you make in that situation?
Your choice in tough situations will determine the result you get!
Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT
Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life so that you and your descendants might live!
You can choose to participate with crazy, or you can decide it’s not your issue.
Proverbs 23:13-14 NLT
Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from death.
We are called to love others, but NOT to be doormats
God might be allowing an attack to purge toxic situations out of your life, that you were unwilling to let go of on your own!
2. Protective Boundaries:
Protective Boundaries are what will help keep you from chaos and being derailed in a future situation. It’s applying wisdom to today, to avoid disaster tomorrow.
2 Corinthians 6:14-15 TPT
Don’t continue to team up with unbelievers in mismatched alliances, for what partnership is there between righteousness and rebellion? Who could mingle light with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and Satan? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
Stay Humble.
Proverbs 16:18 TPT
Your boast becomes a prophecy of a future failure. The higher you lift yourself up in pride, the harder you’ll fall in disgrace.
It was Peter’s boast that he would never leave Jesus that set him in pride, and allowed the enemy to get in.
Note: Confidence isn’t the same as pride. Pride is thinking YOU are the big deal. Confidence is knowing the JESUS in you is the big deal.
No matter HOW derailed you may be, or how hopeless it may feel, if you decide to get up today and run to Jesus, He will turn your derailment into something for your good!
Romans 8:28 TPT
So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.
No matter where you are at in your derailment, Keep getting back up!!!
Proverbs 24:16 TPT
For the lovers of God may suffer adversity and stumble seven times,
but they will continue to rise over and over again. But the unrighteous are brought down by just one calamity and will never be able to rise again.
Stay close to Jesus! That’s the key to always getting back on track.
Psalms 27:14 TPT
“Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!”
