WARM UP QUESTION
What is favorite comfort food? [In 2 Corinthians 1, we are going to see an amazing picture of God as the source of comfort.]
HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Can someone give us a quick rundown of Paul’s back-and-forth with the Corinthian Church?
2. Read 2 Corinthians 1:1-12. As Paul begins this letter written to defend his apostolic authority, why do you think he starts it with this topic of comfort and suffering?
3. What kinds of suffering is Paul referring to here? How might that look for Christians today?
4. This passage doesn’t explain the big “why” questions that come with suffering, but how does this passage describe the ways that God works in the midst of our suffering?
HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. Pastor Peter concluded: “When I’m most uncomfortable, I’m able to experience God’s comfort the most.” Do you have a personal story or example of that being true?
6. Are there any ways in which you have been able to comfort others through the comfort you have received from God?
HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
