Life Group Questions – April 2nd & 3rd 2021
This weekend Pastor Nathan shared a stand along message on John the Baptist. Focusing on John 3:22-30, Nathan expounded upon the bigger picture of our faith and that demonstrated in John the Baptist.
One of the first things we see in this passage is that both John and Jesus were baptizing in this region. Pastor Nathan explained the background and prophesy of John, see Isaiah 40:3 and Luke 1:41.
- In light of seeing John the Baptists obedience, where do you fall in obedience to God?
a. What is your motive behind obedience? What is a good motive for obedience to God and what are some bad motives?
Pastor Nathan emphasized how Jesus was glorified in John’s ministry and decisions/actions.
- If we know that obedience to God brings Him glory, think of times when you have not been glorifying of the Father and see if they correlate to times of disobedience. Discuss.

Seeing the bigger picture is very important for the believer. Pastor Nathan explained how the enemy, or our own flesh put blinder on us when we are tempted, in an effort to hide the bigger picture.
- When zooming out on life, what is the big picture? How does this come from foundational doctrine and why is it so important?
a. In what ways did John the Baptists followers not see the bigger picture? How can their faults mirror ours and how do we overcome them?
We see John the Baptist fulfilling his role in God’s plan despite his follower’s confusion.
