Renewal Process

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, behold the old is gone and the new is come —2 Corinthians 5:17.

As believers in Christ:

  1. We all

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, —2 Peter 1:3-10

  1. I’m not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.

  2. believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.

  3. choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.

  4. examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.

  5. submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.

  6. all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, when possible, except when to do so would harm them or others.

  7. a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

  8. myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words.
