THE GREAT SUSTAINER

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. —Psalm 55:22

THE SUSTAINMENT OF LIFE BEHIND THE VEIL: OLD VS. NEW

31  “You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim.
32  You shall hang it upon the four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be gold, upon four sockets of silver. you shall put the table on the north side.
33  And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy.
34  You shall put the mercy seat upon the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy.
—Exodus 26:31 - 34

And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.” —Exodus 30:10

And the Lord said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat. —Leviticus 16:2

19  Therefore, brethren, having boldness[a] to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20  by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, —Hebrews 10:19 - 20

4  And we have such trust through Christ toward God.
5  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
6  who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
7  But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,
8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
9  For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
10  For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
11  For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12  Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—
13  unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.
14  But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
15  But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
16  Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17  Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. —2 Corinthians 3:4 - 17

1. Life without the veil brings a new level of trust and intimacy with God.> 4  And we have such trust through Christ toward God.

5  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, —2 Corinthians 3:4 - 5

3  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
4  Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength. —Isaiah 26:3 - 4

2. Life without the veil brigs a new purpose to our lives.

—2 Corinthians 3:6 - 8

Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. —Exodus 34:29

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you —1 Corinthians 3:16

13  “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14  “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. —Matthew 5:13 - 16

9  For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
10  For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels.
11  For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. —2 Corinthians 3:9 - 11

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21

For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. —1 Corinthians 2:11

3. Life without the veil replaces the old with the new… new hope, new boldness, found only “In Christ.”

12  Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—
13  unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. —2 Corinthians 3:12 - 13

19  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,
20  where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. —Hebrews 6:19 - 20

15  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. —Hebrews 4:15 - 16

4. The new life without the veil is only possible through turning to Christ.

—2 Corinthians 3:14 - 16

By a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh. —Hebrews 10:20

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, —Hebrews 27:51

And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance —Hebrews 9:15

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises —Hebrews 8:6

5  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
6  who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, —1 Timothy 2:5 - 6

9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.
10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
11  None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
12  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” —Hebrews 8:9 - 12
