“Yeshua HaMashiach”
JESUS Series Week 5
Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Acts 2:36 (KJV)
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Just like the word “Messiah”, the title “Christ” means the “ANOINTED ONE). Mashiach is the Hebrew word for Messiah and means “anointed one.”
Yeshua is a shortened version of the name Yehoshua (Yeh-HO-shoo-ah), which means “Adonai saves.”
Yeshua HaMashiach (Yeh-SHOO-ah Ha-Mah-SHEE-akh) is Hebrew for “Jesus the Messiah.”
So when we say - Yeshua HaMashiach, it means - Jesus the Anointed One
Jesus’ Mission was to put an end to our deepest troubles - Rebellion, Sin, and Death!
Jesus’ Mission was to save the world by calling us back to be reconciled with God through the power of His Love!
Isaiah 61:1-2 (KJV)
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Luke 4:16-22 (KJV)
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
They did not understand that their Messiah had come as a lowly human - robed in flesh to SAVE His people from their sins! Yeshua HaMashiach
Luke 7:20-23 (KJV)
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Yeshua HaMashiach was not on earth to save His people from the Romans, He was there to save His people from their sins! (From Sin, From Death, From Rebellion towards God).
The enemy of our soul tries to keep us in rebellion toward God, and enslave us by the slave master of sin, which then brings us to spiritual and eventually natural death. Jesus did not come to set up an earthly kingdom - He was Yeshua HaMashiach - the ANOINTED ONE!
Acts 2:36-37 (KJV)
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Their response shows that they understood not only their actions and sinfulness…but also that Jesus of Nazareth was Yeshua HaMashiach - So Peter without missing a beat, begins to tell them how they should respond!
Acts 2:38 (KJV)
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Peter tells them the same thing that John the Baptist had preached, and the same thing Jesus had preached…REPENT - that was the first step (always) for the Jews and for us…to TURN BACK TO GOD, and TURN AWAY FROM SIN!
Then He tells them to call on the Name of the Lord (Acts 2:21 referencing Joel 2:32) in Baptism…we understand the importance of the NAME as it is described by all the New Testament scriptures…Jesus had already described this baptism of water in His name when He spoke with Nicodemus in John 3. He said we must be BORN AGAIN of Water and Spirit in order to enter the Kingdom of God.
Remember that Jesus said in John 18:36 that His Kingdom was not of this world…and He had already described how a person could ENTER His Kingdom!
The second part of that was to be born of the Spirit…yes, the SAME SPIRIT that anointed Jesus to do all the things He did…we have access to - being born again of the Spirit gives us access to the Kingdom of God and enables us to live above the enslavement of sin.
This is what it meant for captives to go free…captives from the kingdom of darkness, the slaves of sin to now be transferred into the Kingdom of Light, and have power over sin - by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, the Spirit of God that we receive when we surrender ourselves to Him and we obey His Word.
This is what the angel and the prophets were talking about when they told of Yeshua HaMashiach - the Anointed One, Jesus the Christ who would SAVE HIS PEOPLE from their SINS!
Do you know Jesus today as the “CHRIST” - the One who came to save you from your sins?
Would you obey the directions given by John, Jesus, Peter and Paul…to turn from sin, and surrender yourself completely to Jesus?
After you have REPENTED, then be Baptized in Jesus’ Name, and receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in a Heavenly language that God will enable you to speak.
You can be FREE INDEED today - if you will obey the Anointed One who is still setting captives free!

27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
John 14:26 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
