ICEBREAKER: How do you usually show others that you care?
Read Philippians 1:1-11
Paul often opens his letters with the phrase, “grace and peace to you.” What does grace mean? What does peace mean? How might opening the letter with grace and peace shape the way Paul wrote the letter? How might your interactions be different if you started with grace and peace?
In this portion of Philippians, Paul expresses his love and appreciation for the church in Philippi. What does Paul mean when he says that he is confident “that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion”? What is that work? What does “completion” mean?
In verse 9, Paul prays that their love will abound. What does abounding love look like? How does the love of Christ shape us today? How does knowing Christ will return motivate us to share his love? What keeps us from sharing this love?
