The Fruit of the Spirit: Love
Part of Sermon Notes

Big Ideas:

1. Love is the main fuel for the Kingdom of God.

2. The rate that the Kingdom grows depends on our willingness to love God and love others.

John 5:17, “My Father is always at work, and I too am working, even to this very day.”

1 Peter 2:4-5 says, “As you come to Him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him—you also, like living stones are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but for everyone to come to repentance.”

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”

Matthew 4:18-20, “As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed Him.”

Definition 1, “Love is moving towards someone else with their best interest in life.”
Definition 2, “Love is a selfless commitment to the well-being of others without condition.”

Pastor’s Challenge:

  1. Stay connected to God and Jesus through the Word, prayer, and church. God speaks to us through those life-lines. If we’re not connected, we won’t be able to see or hear God.

  2. Be observant for God’s prompting and God’s voice as you go throughout your day.

  3. Be willing to obediently surrender your will to God’s, adjust your life, your schedule, your plan, your way, to God’s will and God’s way.
