Matthew 28:16-20, NIV
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
This is not about gifting or personality.
That is why Jesus himself said to His disciples, and to us, the following:
Mark 8:34-38, NIV
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
The best way to impact someone’s life is the way we live.
It is confusing to the people around us when we proclaim one thing but live another.
Matthew 18:6-9, NIV
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
But we can’t neglect to use our words in showing people the love of Jesus.
Revelation 12:7-11, NIV
7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
has been hurled down.
11 They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
We need to fully recognize that blood from a pure and innocent lamb had to be sacrificed for the remission of sin. Remission means deliverance, freedom, liberty, and to pardon. It doesn’t mean just to cover for a period of time. It means forever. That blood could only come from the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ). Our salvation is only available through the blood of Jesus.
Hebrews 9:21-22, NIV
21 In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. 22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Psalm 103:10-12, NIV
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
The Word of our Testimony – The Greek word for testimony is “maturia” which comes from the root word “martus”. The definition of these words is mainly from a judicial setting which means witness, evidence given, record, report, or martyr. You might also notice that we get our word mature from this Greek word.
This indicates a voice is needed to give evidence. You have to use your voice to get saved. You have to use your voice to get married.
The words out of your mouth are powerful.
They either contain life or death.
Proverbs 18:20-21, NIV
20 From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
It’s time we stand and let people know how incredible the love of God is!
