Disciples Live in Submission
Ephesians 5:22-24(NKJV) Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:17-21(NKJV) Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
(1 Peter 2:18) You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel.
(Mark 8:34) Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.
Revolutionary Submission
(Philippians 2:8) He humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Acts of Revolutionary Submission
1. Submission to God
“As You will, what You will, when You will.” -Thomas á Kempis
(Acts 17:28) For in Him we live and move and exist.
2. Submission to Scripture
(2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
3. Submission to Family
(Philippians 2:4) Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
4. Submission to our Neighbors
5. Submission to the family of God
(John 13:35) Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
6. Submission to the Broken and Despised
(James 1:27) Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
7. Submission to the World
(Mark 9:35) “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
(John 13:15) I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.
