Day 145 - The Family of God
Paulette Baker
“God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son.” - Ephesians 1:5-6 NLT
Christian Salvation is a spiritual adoption into the family of God. Throughout Scripture, we see believers referenced as God’s children (Galatians 3:26; Romans 8:14; Galatians 4:7). When we are united with God through salvation, we become a part of His family. We are forever identified as God’s sons and daughters!
The power of salvation is evident in the family of God because there is strength in numbers. 1 Peter 5:9 tells us to “resist [the enemy], standing firm in the faith, because [we] know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” When we are adopted into the family of believers, we know that we are not alone. God’s salvation and redemptive power brings freedom to not only our lives but the lives of all believers! Together, we can encourage one another and remind each other of the power of salvation!
