- Read Colossians 3:1-2. In what ways do you set your mind on things on the earth? What are some examples of having an earthly mindset?
- What role does media play in defining your mindset? How much of your media usage is for escape? What are you escaping?
- Read Mark 9:7. What are some practical ways to set your mind on things above so that you can “listen to Jesus”?
- After Paul wrote the warnings in chapter 2 and before he got to the ethical exhortations in 3:5, what was his purpose in writing verses 3:1-4? In other words, why didn’t he just move to the ethical exhortations in 3:5?
- Read Hebrews 2:1-3; 12:1-3. How does setting your mind on Christ help you overcome and endure struggles, temptation, weariness, and defeat?
- Do you ever feel like your life is so hidden in Christ (3:3) that you wonder if it is real? How does 1 Peter 1:8 apply to having a Christ mindset?
