Genesis 1:26-31 ESV
26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
28And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
God has blessed us with His word, which communicates to us, who He is. We see in this account of Scripture that our God is a creator.
This is the account of the pinnacle of His creation being created.
How do we know that we are the pinnacle of His creation?
Look at the other scriptures related to His creation during the previous 5 days. He says in verse:
3 - Let there be Light
6 - Let there be an expanse
9 - Let the waters gather into one place
11 - Let the earth sprout vegetation
14 - Let there be lights in the expanse of heavens
20 - Let the waters swarm with living creatures and the birds fly
24 - Let the earth bring forth living creatures
Most of these are followed with “And God made”…and “God saw that it was good.”

But then we come to verse 26…and we see a different statement in the creation-
Genesis 1:26 ESV
26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God went from let there be…to let us make.
Genesis 2:4-7 ESV
The Creation of Man and Woman
4These are the generations
of the heavens and the earth when they were created,
in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.
5When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, 6and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— 7then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Genesis 2:18-24 ESV
18Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23Then the man said,
“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”
24Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

So the first answer to our question “Who are you?” is, you are created in the image of God.
You are MADE in the image of God.
This is different from the rest of Creation.
We begin to listen to voices other than our creater that tell us who we should be. In fact, that is the oldest trick in the enemy’s book.
The enemy will try to make us question who we are…by making us question who our creator is.
Look at Genesis 3:1-5
Genesis 3:1-5 ESV
The Fall
1Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Don’t listen to other voices telling you who you should be, or who they think you are. God tells you in His word who you are.
You are Created in His image (Gen 1:26)
Genesis 1:26 ESV
26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Spiritual Blessings in Christ
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
You have sinned (Romans 3:23)
Romans 3:23 ESV
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
You are redeemed (Colossians 1:13-14)
Colossians 1:13-14 ESV
13He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
You are an Adopted Son/Daughter (Galatians 4:3-7)
Galatians 4:3-7 ESV
3In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. 4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
You have a Mission (Matthew 28:19-20)
Matthew 28:19-20 ESV
19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
You have a purpose (Isaiah 43:21)
Isaiah 43:21 ESV
21the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
Psalm 139:14 ESV
14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
