The first thing Paul prays for the Ephesians is that “God would give them the Spirit of

and so that you may him better.”


We need the

to enable us to know God.

There are many people who study the Bible their whole lives, and yet they do not know God. They do not have a relationship with him.

Paul prays that the eyes of their heart would be

so they would know 3 things:

  1. The

    to which they were .
    Paul wants them to live lives full of HOPE. To expect,
    always, that God is and .

  2. The

    of God’s glorious .
    Throughout the New Testament is the idea that believers
    receive an inheritance. See Colossians 3:24, Hebrews 9:15,
    I Peter 1:3-4

As a follower of Jesus, you are highly valued by God, he chooses to use you in order to accomplish his plans for the here and now, and for all eternity. What might God be calling you to do in light of this truth?

3. His incomparably

for us who believe.
The same power that raised Jesus from the , is the same power which resides them. It is the same power to them to live their lives in a way which is to the Lord.

Based on Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians, answer these two questions:

How might you pray for yourself?
