DQ: Tenebrae 2021
March 28, 2021
March 27 & 28, 2021
OPENER: Where is the darkest place you have ever been, and how did it make you feel?
READ: Matthew 26:31-35 & 39-45 & 57-64, John 1:1-2 & 10-11, 3:19, 13:21-30 & 34-35,
No video this week. This week’s questions reflect on the entirety of the Tenebrae Service
- How would you rate yourself on how you are living out the new commandment? (John 13:34-35) Why do you give yourself that rating?
- In what ways do we betray Jesus even though He is not with us physically?
- Why do you think Jesus was so troubled in the Garden of Gethsemane by what He was about to face both physically and spiritually? At what time have you been troubled over a challenging situation and could have prayed, “take this cup from me?”
- Make observations about how Jesus responded to accusations made against Him. (Matthew 26:57-64) Compare and contrast Christ’s responses to your reaction when accused of something related to your faith in Christ.
- As we live in today’s culture, what can we consider in examining our own lives to discover whether we love darkness more than light?
- In thinking of the events in Jesus’ life during the last week before His crucifixion, what we call Holy Week, what impacts you the most?
THANKSGIVING: Give thanks for the events that impacted you the most in answering question #6.
