TRUST God in the BATTLE (Genesis 13-14)
Trustworthy FRIENDS
As we face different battles in this life, we must do two things: grow closer to God and cultivate reliable friendships. A vertical relationship with God and a horizontal connection with godly people will help us overcome every trouble that attacks us.

Discussion Questions
What does it mean to be FRIENDS with God?
Meditate upon the characteristics of having a genuine relationship with God (John 15:12-17; Psalm 34:4-6; James 2:23; 4:4; Ex 33:11; Is 41:8). Would you consider Jesus a close friend, a superficial friend, or a distant friend you’ve lost touch with?
Are you GENEROUS to the UNDESERVING?
When strife surrounds you, how do you respond? Do you dig in your feet and stubbornly make sure that you get your way, or do you give freely so that the situation can be resolved with selflessness? Did Abraham live out the idea that “it is better to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). What specific things can you “give” when you face conflict and division?
Why are godly FRIENDS important?
Human relationships are vital to our spiritual, emotional, and even physical health (Prov 12:26; 17:17; 18:24; 27:5-17; Eccl 4:9-10; Ps 133:1; 2 Kgs 2:2; Job 2:11). Who are your three closest friends?
Are you more like LOT or ABRAHAM?
Lot chose to live in a dark, wicked place because it seemed satisfying. Abraham remained close to God and avoided temptations. Lot needed rescued and Abraham saved him. Are you the friend who falls into the pit or the friend who helps people out of a pit?
Do you feel CLOSE to God MOST HIGH?
Study this title: “El Elyon” (Ps 7:17; 57:2-3; 91:1). Amazingly, the most supreme being in the universe (God), loves us so much that He will lower Himself to be our friend. Do you need to cry out to Jesus? How can you get closer to your Holy Friend?
