Message Notes:

Colossians 2:6-7
6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. NLT

Main Idea:

Deeper faith means developing deeper faith habits

When you put your faith into practice…it grows.

Hebrews 11:1,6
(Faith Chapter)
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see… 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists…NIV

Luke 8 - Woman With the Issue of Blood

Matthew 8 – Non-Jewish Centurion

Daniel 3
1 King Nebuchadnezzar made a gold statue ninety feet tall and nine feet wide[a] and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon…4 Then a herald shouted out, “People of all races and nations and languages, listen to the king’s command! 5 When you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and other musical instruments,[c] bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue. (vs 6-12 - Jealous leaders told the king Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not bowing)…13 Then Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and ordered that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought before him. When they were brought in, 14 Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I have set up? 15 I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments.[f] But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?” 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” (Vs. 19-23 They were thrown in. The fire was so hot the soldiers throwing them in died when they got near)….24 But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?” “Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did,” they replied. 25 “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god[g]!”…26b So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. 27 Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn’t even smell of smoke! 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego!…29b There is no other god who can rescue like this!” 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher positions in the province of Babylon. NLT

1. Once they knew what God wanted for them…they did not let fear talk them out of it.

2. Their faith was more about trusting God’s greater plan than it was getting a desired outcome.

Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. NLT

3. Their faith showed than even if God does not remove you from a situation…He can help you go through it unharmed.

Daniel 1:19-20
19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah (Hebrew names for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego); so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. NIV

3 Good Faith Habits to Start Practicing:

1. Don’t Just Say You Will … Pray His Will.

2. Don’t Just Say You Trust Him … Show You Trust Him.

3. Don’t Just Say He Is First … Live As If He Is.

Faith means even if you don’t see it physically, God will be with you no matter what happens.
It is a choice to lay our fear down at his feet and live as if he already has the outcome handled.
