Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Revelation 2:12-17, Rev 19:15, Eph 6:17, Heb 4:12. The church in Pergamum is located in town of highest worship of Caesar & Greek gods, especially Alspecius. So, Christ connects with the Church in Pergamum as …Him who has the sharp two-edged sword. Churches are strategically located where God needs them to be & Christ provides Himself as the weaponry for accomplishing His purpose. In prayer, examine where God has planted you & what He wants to accomplish where He’s planted you.
• Tuesday: Read Revelation 2:12-17 Satan has a throne in Pergamum, yet Christians held fast His name & keep their faith regardless of seeing the death of faithful Antipas as well as the degree of idol worship of Alspecius the serpent. Likewise Christians today are well aware of persecution & idol worship around us. Pray that Christ is able to speak positively of your faithfulness toward Him, despite every challenge.
• Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Revelation 2:12-17, 2 Pt 2:15, Num 22:5,7; Deut 23:4; Neh 13:2; Jude 11. Christ has a few specific things against the church, yet false teaching & broken belief system leading to promoting immorality is the point. As you read of the error and consequence of false teaching of Balaam & the Nicolaitians seek the Lord for greater understanding of His truth, ask are you a road or a roadblock to spiritual growth for others?
• Thursday: Read Revelation 2:12-17, 2 Thess 2:8, Without repentance Christ will come to the church & war against them with His word. This is either terrifying or great comfort depending on how the church repents and moves toward teaching of Christ’s truth. Seek the Lord for clarity from Him, for how your beliefs about Him promote immorality or holiness.
• Friday: Read Revelation 2:12-17 The church, then & now, is in a real fight against idolatry and growing idolatry. The one that conquers against idol worship and sexual immorality of the culture surrounding them is eternally, supernaturally fed by Christ and receives a new name in heaven. Let eternity with Christ be the great goal of the life you live, now.
