The Father affirmed who Jesus “
” as Son before anything He “
” as Savior….
…and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22)
The cycle of temptation begins with the enemy questioning your
– “If you are the Son of God…” (The tempter, Luke 4:3a)
Jesus and His temptation…

) – “The devil said to Him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.’” (Luke 4:3)

) – “The devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to Him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor… if you worship me it will be yours.’” (Luke 4:5-6a, 7)

) – “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” (Luke 4:9b-11)
Jesus and His counter…
– “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days He was tempted by the devil.” (Luke 4:1-2a)
– “Jesus answered, ‘It is written… It is written… It says…’” (Luke 4:4a, 8a, 12a)
– “Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him.” (Matt. 4:11)
Jesus and His victory…
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. (1 John 3:8b)
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. (Rom. 16:20a)
