For we don’t dare classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. But in measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves to themselves, they lack understanding. —2 Corinthians 10:12

In order to kill comparison we need to:

what battle we are fighting. (2 Cor 10:3-5)

UNDERSTAND where we get our

. (2 Cor 10:7-8)

UNDERSTAND our unique

. (2 Cor 10:13-15)

UNDERSTAND that there is so much

work to do. (2 Cor 10:15-16)

UNDERSTAND that God’s accomplishments

our accomplishments. (2 Cor 10:17-18)

SMALL GROUP GUIDE

Welcome
Weekly Vision Casting  Healthy small groups have a reproducible process for discipleship. Jesus modeled this with his disciples by raising them up and sending them out to make more disciples. Is there anyone in the group that would be interested in helping launch a new small group as a leader or co-leader?

SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP QUESTION
Is comparison good or bad? [Today we are going to look at the issues with comparison that were harming the Corinthian church]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Can someone tell us why Paul writes the letter of 2 Corinthians?
2. Read 2 Corinthians 10. What do we learn about…? Is it Paul? These false teachers? The church in Corinth?
3. Read 2 Corinthians 10:12 again. How does Paul counteract this comparison game in this chapter?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
4. In what way have you struggled with comparison lately? Turn to your neighbor and share. [After 2-3 minutes, come back together. Then ask: Is there something you heard yourself or someone else say that was insightful?]
5. Is there something from this chapter that will especially help you to kill comparison?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
6. How do you practice “boasting in the Lord” in everyday life?
